ABOUT US

The Oconomowoc Lacrosse Club (OLC) is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the game of Lacrosse in Oconomowoc.  The OLC organizes and implements parent meetings, LAX clinics, fundraising, collection of player fees and any other events needed to support Oconomowoc Lacrosse.  Monthly meetings are open to all LAX parents, participation and assistance with upcoming tasks and events is appreciated.

Our Mission

The mission of Oconomowoc Lacrosse Club is to promote youth in the community to learn individual fundamental skills, the essentials of team play, proper physical conditioning, and most importantly, good sportsmanship while fostering a life-long enjoyment for the game of lacrosse for youth boys and girls in the Oconomowoc area.  Through its coaching staff and volunteers, the Club will encourage players to develop a positive attitude, self-discipline, confidence, respect for others, and commitment to the success of their team and club.  OLC will strive to make participation in the sport of lacrosse affordable, safe and a positive experience for players, coaches, and parents.

OCONOMOWOC LACROSSE TEAM STRUCTURE

No previous lacrosse experience is necessary to join the Oconomowoc Lacrosse Club and all new players are welcome. The focus will be to reach the highest level of player’s skill, knowledge, athletic ability, and team dynamic. OLC fields youth and high school lacrosse teams. However, Girls High School Lacrosse is running through the Oconomowoc Area School District. At the high school level, the team participates in the Classic Eight Conference. At the youth level, Oconomowoc Lacrosse fields boy’s 7th/8th, 5th/6th and 3/4 grade teams. The youth teams participate in the Milwaukee Area Youth Lacrosse Association.

EXPECTATIONS OF PLAYERS

Playing time will be based on skill, position requirements and commitment.  Oconomowoc Lacrosse players will:

  • Honor the game.
  • Be on time and dressed for every practice, bus departure and game
  • Work hard in every practice and game
  • Talk openly to the coaches about any questions or concerns during the season
  • Be current members of US Lacrosse, Inc (USL) www.uslacrosse.org , as outlined by the Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation and the US Lacrosse Liability Insurance Policies.  All players must provide proof of USL membership to participate in any practices or games
  • Follow the Oconomowoc School District Athletic Code of Conduct

EQUIPMENT

ALL BOYS MUST WEAR ALL THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT AT ALL PRACTICES AND GAMES

  • Lacrosse helmet
  • Mouth guard of any readily visible color (no white or clear)
  • Shoulder pads
  • Elbow/Arm pads
  • Lacrosse gloves
  • Cleated shoes for outside practices/games
  • At least one lacrosse stick
  • Protective athletic supporter and cup
  • Rib pads (optional)
  • Goalies: throat/chest guard (Each team will maintain a complete equipment inventory for any goalie or back-up goalie)

ALL GIRLS MUST WEAR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT AT ALL PRACTICES AND GAMES

  • Mouth guard of any readily visible color (no white or clear)
  • Protective Goggles
  • Cleated shoes for outside practices/games
  • At least one lacrosse stick
  • Goalies: throat/chest guard (Each team will maintain a complete equipment inventory for any goalie or back-up goalie)

All players are responsible for purchasing the required equipment. Equipment is available for purchase at local sporting goods store (such as Sports Authority, Burghardt’s Sporting Goods), Hot4Lax, or online.  Rental packages are available. Hockey equipment cannot be used, due to liability issues. Hockey equipment is not engineered for the game of lacrosse.

REGISTRATION AND FEES

Player fees must cover all expenses incurred by the lacrosse team since OLC does not receive any funding from the schools. Registration fees cover the following expenses: game referees, goals, balls, field expenses, field equipment, coaches’ expenses and uniforms, buses, Classic Eight, MAYLA and Wisconsin Lacrosse Federation (WLF) dues.

Further anticipated costs that will be the responsibility of each player may include, but is not limited to, all personal equipment required to play lacrosse, and transportation to and from all practices and some games.

FUNDRAISING:

Multiple fundraising events will be scheduled by the OLC to help cover club expenses.  The work that is needed to support and sustain the high school lacrosse teams will require volunteers.  Take time to become involved and attend the OLC monthly meetings and participate in the fundraising efforts.
